Hi, I'm Jon from Minnesota. For me it was Please Teacher. It was so different than anything I'd seen in American culture, it really intrigued me!
I've never really watched anime other than DBZ when I was young but I wouldn't count that as the anime that got me into it. One day I was bored and my friend had posted a gif of Bell Cranel and Hestia dancing and I ended up asking him where it was from where I then was told about Danmachi. After watching it, I said "whoa, maybe this is why all my friends have been trying to get to me into anime" and the rest is history.
Hi! I'm Lainey from Indiana, and my childhood was Digimon.

I had satellite TV back in the 90's. One of the tv channels was the legendary french GAME ONE (showcasing PS1, N64, DC, PC games during daytime). At nighttime, they were broadcasting animes like GITS and Evangelion. Didn't understand a word French, but seeing all that immense action and blood in those "cartoons" blew the fuck out of my mind of the 7-year old me. Then our local TV stations started broadcasting animes like original Dragon Ball, Pokémon and Detective Conan and the rest is history. Shit was cash back then.
