What is the 1st anime you watched that turned you into an Otaku??

cinnamoon
@shawnji, OMG, I remember the paper catalogues they used to advertise at the end of the tape. I always wanted them but I could never get them because I was just a kid. At the time, I thought, "When I'm an adult, I'm going to order one of those from every company and buy so many tapes!" Now I'm in my 20s and most of those companies are defunct and there's no need for catalogues what with streaming and amazon and such. ;-;

Haha! Nice to know that somebody else remembers those things. XD

Well in 'murrica must've been pokemon and yugioh. But going into subs, I'd say my intro was Love Hina and Chobits. Obviously a lot more "pafu pafu" "doki doki" and more male character abuse haha

Yo I watch pokemon and digimon when I was really young but what truly got me into anime was Shaman king

As kid I watched Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh on the TV but that didn't turned me into an otaku. The people from the TV companies didn't even broadcasted the series in chronological order. Then I started watching DBZ because I had a DBZ-game for the PS2. After that was finished I didn't watched any anime for the next 2 whole years‼. Later I had a (few) Naruto fans in my school and bothered to try watching it. It also was my first "subbed" anime and I got addicted from the start. After i was finished Fairy Tail was next and then Bleach and the train was on. SO i gues Naruto Turned me into an otaku.

I got really into anime when i was pretty young, I watched all the usual ones as a kid, Yu-Gi-Oh, Shaman King, Dragonball Z, Digimon, Pokemon all that good stuff but it was really Naruto and One piece that made me watch more stuff and led me on a life long love affair with anime ^.^

@fran That one of my first too. That and "Cowboy Bebop". Toonami brings back memories. @otaku_hazel Oddly I just started watching "cheeky angel" on the Anime Watch app on my phone. @dandaman That made me laugh cause it's so true. Anywho, I'm Wesley. I watched Scryed at buddies dorm in college. First time I realized you could download anime online. Been watching them ever since.

hello. my name is Denis and im 22. im from chicoutimi in quebec while the first anime i watched trought was cardcaptor sakura, i would say that what really got me hooked was the manga : Mahou Sensei Negima! (yea im more of a manga person and a video game person) but hey, the world is made up of everything. i did try to watch the anime of that manga, but there was apparently 3 sepparate and alternate storyline anime for the manga it was soo really much confusing and above all else, none of them followed the manga storyline. soo, since the manga had much of an effect on me, i chosed to not watch any of the 3 anime to not dismantle the experiance i had with the manga. Mahou Sensei Negima! is also the universe that contain my favorine character out of all manga/anime/movie/video-game/book . i am also watching very closely the new manga UQ holder that is a direct sequel to Mahou Sensei Negima! yes this is not my first anime i watched. but it may be worth mentioning that it is my first manga and concidentaly, my first manga was and is still my favorite manga too to be really fair though, idd also like to note that the first anime made me appreciate the anime world (not mangas) was GATE - JIETAI KARE NO CHI NITE, KAKU TATAKERI (although im not shure the anime wear the same name as the manga)
tomaru
Hello! My first anime that I watched were Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon and Cardcaptors! Oh my name is tomaru. I'm 26 and have been watching anime for a long time. Also I'm new here to the forum! I'm also bad at organizing information in my posts apparently lol Anyways, after those anime I watched other ones like Pokemon and others. I didn't know that they were called anime, I just naturally liked them. I enjoyed American cartoons also. Cool topic!
