Yeah I been keeping up with it following the oculus rift as well. Sword Art Online gives me theoretical and possible hopes that we might some day have something similar but messing with nerves and stimulating them will be its own wall still its possible to do this.

True I agree which is why I havnt bought either one the screendoor effect is still very noticeable. Not to mention it feels like you are staring into a ski mask somewhat. I dont expect anything when it comes to this tech especially considering that as you state its in its infant stage. However if we want to advance said technology we need people to support its advancement. I just hope people realize that holodeck like scenarios from star trek wont be happening. Nerve gear though is something that is feasible but very complicated to try to create.

There was alot of work done on VR goggles back in the 90s (Google Jaron Lanier if I spelled that right, wrote a report for school ages ago). They even had VR arcade games in malls but graphics processing was very weak. But then a bunch of horror movies came out about VR and scared people away from it for awhile but they have gotten back into development in the past decade or so now that graphics processing and high resolution mini-lcd's are cheap and widely available. The Oculus Rift is supposedly very good.
