I am trying to learn to read japanese and way I can memorize it I try to fit like the word ka into the symbol and like make a k shape in it then a A is this affective I have learned 15 katakana from it

Can't wait to learn katakan and hiragana. I am only learning to speak japanese right now. ^+^ But this thread is a good place as any to mention Sharedtalk.org Its a website that lets you speak to anyone in the world wanting to learn a diff language. So you get to speak to japanese people and can learn from them. But unfortunatly i don't think alot of japanese know about it. so trying to spread the word here ^-^ I've met many people and some are now friends with me on fb. Also i would have never started to watch Gintama if it wasn't for Obasan ^+^ i met there. Ok nuff of that. My advise go to a book store find books that have both english and kata/Hira with stories that intrest you. I found one the other day title something along the lines of (Japanese Scary Stories translated) A book that goes through all the original monster stories all japanese have grown up with and some history behind them. cool stuff huh...well i think its cool lol Anyways i wish you best in your endevour as Stellalina said GAMBATTE!!

Check this out if you didn't know about it. http://japanesethegame.com/ This guy did a kickstarter a while and exploded past his goal. Probably the most fun way I can think of to learn a language. If only this came in more languages, then all the languages I want to take in school would be easier lol.....ew...I sounded like an infomercial there...

Because of anime and Rosetta Stone I can understand a good bit of it if I listen to it, but I can hardly speak it. I'm just not good at learning languages in general. I was the only one who struggled in my Spanish class in high school v_v

^for you guys that can't read kanji, (why i wrote it in hiragana) that was "ganbatte kudasai" or "please try your best."
