Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

Has anyone else played this game? My roommate just got me back into playing my ps3 and I ended up getting the game so I could play it with him, wondering if anyone else plays it, so far it's turned out to be a pretty awesome mmorpg.

Already a forum for this man, but to answer your question yes, there's quite a few of us on this site that play ffxiv.

These forums are in drastic need of two things, a way to delete threads, and a way to search for them.

Agreed, it's been suggested multiple times before but I don't see it changing anytime soon...which is unfortunate

Played the beta, It's a wow clone with better graphics. No thanks

I've got two friends who pay it. It's definitely a wow clone, with some aion aspects in it

It's not really a wow clone...just because wow is the most popular mmo doesn't mean that every mmo that comes after it is a 'clone'. Ffxiv is a lot less forgiving than wow, I haven't seen any correlation of abilities between ffxiv and wow, there are no similar areas. Dungeons last longer and require more cooperation, there's a different art style, there's actually a story you're playing through. I could go on but I'll just finish with this: ffxiv is their second mmo, first came ffxi, which is like the foundation for ffxiv.

Actually there are many similarities to Vanilla WoW with ARR. For example, the dungeons when WoW first came out are similar in terms of length and how things are handled (almost every MMO shares a similar select what roles to play and such). Abilities from the WoW classes compared to ARR are pretty different but again when it comes to healers, tanks, dps all the classes and abilities in most MMOs are fairly similar despite different animations and such(I mean with a tank you always have some sort of shield toss or bash to draw aggro and such). I don't think ARR is a clone of WoW but they're still very similar and to try saying WoW doesn't have a story is unfair because the story for base WoW when it came helped expand the lore of the previous Warcraft RTS games. Overall, I think what helped make the FF MMOs unique though was the ability to create an all purpose character that can fill every role simply by being able to change jobs. So, some people may like the MMO and find it unique to themselves and to other people they may not and just see it as another typical MMO grindfest.

I've never played wow, but I've always heard bad things about it.
