Overlooked JRPGs I might have missed?

xingthecrow
So, I bought a PS3 something-years ago and it was mostly because JRPGs were a genre that appeared a lot in Sony's previous consoles. Mind you, I didn't get into JRPGs until the playstation era so I didn't play anything before it came into existence, say, from nintendo and super nintendo consoles. I can't find any good NEW JRPGs that I haven't already played so are there any games you'd recommend? Or we can just discuss games in this genre that you/we consider overlooked. (How many people played Wild Arms anyway? That's like one of my favorite JRPGs and it really sucks that they didn't continue the series on the PS3.)

I'm just waiting for Persona 5 which should be out next year T_T
fusore
wow i had never heard of jrpg before now thanks for tipping me off
zero_onimatsu
Do you mean you've been playin since ps1 I need specifics oh and the real question is how many people haven't played wild arms
xingthecrow
@zero_onimatsu Yeah, that's right. I've been playing since ps1. I thought wild arms was kind of a low-key series but maybe not. Let's see... from ps1 I've played every final fantasy that came out, legend of dragoon and wild arms 1 and 2. I like the concept of the genre, I just haven't been exposed to much. (besides the ever popular Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts.) @Sugi Yeah! Me too, dude. And I'm glad it'll be for the PS3 like Persona 4 was one of the last JRPGs to come out for the PS4. Persona is a solid series in my opinion as it mixes traditional turn-based elements with a great interactive narrative. Atlus is a great company for JRPGs in general. @Fusore Really? I'll bet you've played one before and didn't realize it!
sugihara
Yeah, Atlus is like my favorite company. I played the shit out of Dragon's Crown.

Wild Arms is probably my favorite jrpg series and I was also bummed that they didn't continue it, don't know if Grandia counts as a jrpg but it's also an awesome series.
kichigai913
Breath of Fire series, Grandia counts in my book, Dragon Quest, xenogears, Star Ocean, Disgaea series, Eternal Sonata is an extremely underrated game, Nier, pretty much everything NIS comes out with is a blessing. Games I'm looking forward to include Persona 5, The witch and the hundred knight Is your ps3 backwards compatible?
zero_onimatsu

Personally Okage: Shadow King is an over-looked JRPG, simple but has its own touch to it.
