An interesting fact about this subject. If a terminally ill person decides that they want to end their own life, they can request from a doctor a similar cocktail of drugs used in the death penalty sentencing to put them to sleep, permanently. That being said, the doctor must allow the patient in question to inject themselves with the drug. If the doctor injects it himself, he will be charged with a varying degree of murder, and yet the states execute people regularly on death rows legally. Kind of an ignorant loophole if you ask me since it is the Choice of the Patient in question. Also, I do agree with the death penalty. The chances of someone genuinely changing while on death row for crimes committed *assuming they actually committed them and this isn't an innocent*is slim to none and while every case would be an individual evaluation, if you've done something cruel enough to end up on death row, you deserve to take responsibility for your actions. Edit - A great example of someone. I worked at the local county jail for almost 2 years, and we had taken in a rapist. This man was 23, jacked up on cocaine, and while his girlfriend was away shopping *negligent on her part knowing this man* she left her 18 month old infant with him. He decided that it was a good idea to rape this baby. Yeah, I know you're wondering, How, Why, and what the ****. He was found with his pants around his ankles, face down passed out on a carpet floor. The baby lay next to him, unconscious, and covered in blood. The extent to which her injuries were includes a broken pelvis, fractured legs, a concussion, and the tissue that makes up her genitals torn apart. Do I agree with the death penalty? I would gladly look this man in the eyes and aim my .40 in his face and pull the trigger, with zero remorse or regrets, and feel relief when he hits the ground, cold and lifeless. That is not a human being, it is trash.

Well if your going into the whole aspect of humanity ... isn't a sentence of life in prison less humane than the death penalty?

I suppose it depends on the perspective once you're there, as death row will allow you to wait a lengthy passage of time for you to accept or deny and stress over the fact that you are going to die.

Logically, long term incarceration is a strain on humanity's resources. The prison population has free room and board without contributing anything to society. The money being poured into that system could instead be spent on schools or veterans. But I hear the evidence is out as go whether the death penalty actually reduces crime. Maybe small time or mid-level criminals by think twice. But some of the crazier individuals may simply be more aggressive and violent in attempt to avoid going to jail. Hostage takers may just kill hostages if they themselves will die anyway. Perhaps white-collar crime should have the death penalty. Screwing over thousands of struggling americans for the sake of greed, now punishable by death?

White collar as long as it isn't a low level one. As for crime deterrent, well look at singapore. Enough said. Crikminal organizations still exist but by separating military and police from society and thwn giving them their own checks and balances, and then adding that the government only thinks towards a way to benefit the country Since that in turn benefits them. this caused that only a small number of people are willing to take the risk of crime.. it seems that it is well worth putting death for a lot more crimes into practice. As for criminals not contributing ... well there was this thing called labour campa back in the day. They used to be super popular resort locations for criminals. to bad it would be considered inhuman treatment so I say kill em. Provennguilty means a clean and fast death. Who cares if he dies slow or fast ... there are a lot more that need It.

Course we got that grey area of folks who are wrongfully accused. Only to be proven innocent decades later when new evidence turns up or someone decides to finally talk.

I think it should only be involved with those that deserve it. If someone outright murders another in cold blood for no good reason other then selfish desires or petty anger, Then yes I say they deserve it, If they kill multiple people they deserve it, If their terrorists they deserve it. A person can not put weight on life, Let alone a human life. Life is precious to me and many, and I would never want it to be taken or ruined without good cause. But I also believe in justice, Without Justice there is only chaos and selfishness. So take their life if they do so, Don't torture them, don't humiliate them, End their lives as quickly and painlessly as possible. Or it's just plain revenge, Which there is a difference between vengeance and justice. That's my two cents anyways.
