Understand what repent means. It's a military term which means to do an about face. A truly repent person does not intentionally repeat whatever it is that they did in the first place. So, yes, one can and should be forgiven, but that does not set you free from the consequences of your actions. As Adam suffered death even if he repented, so shall any man suffer the consequences of their actions. I believe in forgiveness, but it's all to hard to want to associate with certain people even so.

As long as you recognize what you did is wrong and you feel bad about doing it, I wouldn't call you a bad person... unless it was really something extreme. Some things can't be forgiven.

It was used by the Greek army as a military command, much like the command, “About turn!” is used by the Australian Army today. The United States Army uses, “To the rear, march!” Picture in your mind a Greek army of Spartans marching across a mesa to battle. All of a sudden, the commander sees a steep precipice ahead and recognizes the immediate danger to his troops. He calls out, “Metanoáysate!” Unless each one changes his mind about the direction he is going, and reverses direction, he will plunge to his death over the precipice. Copy pasta... But, there are actually two derivatives and one stems from the above military term. To repent is to turn around.
