Ambitions, careers....or lack of?

vampire_neko
My biggest flaw in trying to integrate with the human race is that all I want in life is freedom to do what I want each day as it comes. Every job I work, I can't wait to quit. I don't want to be bogged down with any pre determined "career" because even if it's something I kind of like, I'll be forced to do in constantly and eventually hate it. But it's like it doesn't matter because regardless, I have to do something for money on a regular basis. I feel like a slave of society. And all I want is freedom. I used to want to go live in the woods like Grizzly Adams but I enjoy human contact and technology too much. Does anyone else have this problem or do you all pretty much have official "careers"? I seem to lack the conventional form of ambition.

I also agree to what you said, I feel the same way. I'm currently 21 and still officially haven't started college or got a job or even a car compared to my other friends who are already going to start working a career or going to university or graduating college. It doesn't feel nice behind behind. But yeah I also agree that society has enslaved us all to this life style. Everytime I think about how everyone lives there lifes. Working to get money enough to be able ot keep a roof over there head and food on the table and everyday its the same cycle of same events and before you know seasons change years pass and you age and your still doing the same cycle. I think human life was met way more then just being a working slave that the goverment and society has kind of taken away that freedom from us but as far as we can remember we always been working types the human race.. In the end our lifes can't be like an adventure like in the animes it just ends up being like what everyone elses life is. We pretty much are enslaved. And many of us dont think much about it except to do it in order to survive. That is why people look for ways to escape from reality and be more free, that is why everyone should do what they love and let loose every now and then and be wild or be whatever you want to be. But when it comes back to reality we all know we are pretty much slaves to the society. Not unless your filthy rich can you really do nothing and live life freely.

Hmmm...I must admit I have selective ambition, as in sometimes I can see where I want to be and sometimes I can't. I do agree with the fact that the Government are idiots. For one they make it almost impossible for 1st time buyers to get on the property ladder and renting is just as expensive. There's no way I'd be able to get a house on what I earn at the minute and because of that yeah, you need a bigger and better job in which to earn more and more money...vicious circle. My job is basically for paying the bills and getting a bit of money so I can do my other profession that I enjoy. I admit I'm lucky in one respect with my job (it's easy enough and the pay is ok) but every so often I'll still look for another job that pays a little more. But I'll do it for me...I've had enough of doing it for someone else. And I guess because of that, I don't feel as restricted or enslaved as people in the city do - again, and I know I brag about it a little but I love it here; where I live is so slow-paced that they're literally going backwards. We're at least 10 years behind the rest of the UK. @Cat: I'm a lot older than you with two degrees. At my second degree was a lady who celebrated her 75th birthday with us! What I'm saying is that sometimes your first choice is not always right, and that you have plenty of time in which to get those things...if you want to get them. (And I passed my driving test a year ago) I guess in summary, what I think is life is what you make of it (it would be better with dragons though)

Centuries ago, while being tougher because of lack of technologies, when you worked it usually involved hunting food or building your own House. If you wanted something you could often trade. If you lived in a community, it was more like a big family. What I mean to say is that the way of life was more personal and people had to work together to survive. Life was tough but had more heart and soul. Now it's more like we are all just replaceable cogs in a giant machine. Every job I work (with a few exceptions) I feel like I'm just a piece of meat that they would happily replace with any other random schmuck if I fail to live up to their expectations. Everything is about money and nobody ever makes enough. I worked for Walmart not long ago, their total revenue last year was over $400 billion dollars, I got paid less than $8/hr and less than 30 hours a week, I couldn't even afford a cheap apartment working for the wealthiest company on earth. (They surpassed Exxon oil a couple years back). I really just want to find a way to live as cheaply as possible but still be comfortable and do my own thing for extra income (fine art photography, chainmail jewelry, other odds and ends)

Like my grandpa always said, find something you love doing and then find someone stupid enough to pay you to do it..
vampire_neko
^OK, I love watching anime, who wants to pay me to do it? Lol
vampire_neko
Actually, the only way to make money doing that is to start some witty and entertaining anime reviews series on youtube and Garner enough attention to make money revenue from adds.

BOOM! problem solved, I'd subscribe to your anime review+ channel! Shamelessly use Maiotaku to help gain momentum.

BOOM! No money for a camera to film myself, no Wi-Fi or computer at home for editing and such.

Boom! Find a friend and work on said project together. When there's a will, there's a way. Me for instance, i'll be helping a friend make a movie soon.
