Should I be more open?

zfox88
not like: cosplaying around my neighborhood for no good reason. But is it generally a good idea to drop hints (maybe at my workplace?) that I'm into anime? Maybe someone will come along and hit it off? I dunno, maybe it will do more harm than good? Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Here's the way I see it: There's no need to hide it, but at the same time it's not generally a good idea to just bring it up or force the topic. Everything has a time and a place, and most people generally don't want to talk about anime in public (even if they like it they may be embarrassed) So, if the topic comes up from someones own volition I'll test the waters a bit...but other than that I don't really talk about it in public.

Anime t-shirts, key chains, wallets, lanyards, wrist bands are good signs that you're interested in anime. Just having one or two of anything like these would be good enough. Reading manga or drawing/doodling anime openly are great too. Lately my Attack on Titan wallet has been a great conversation starters. I don't even start the conversation because it's usually them saying things like, "Hey that's a cool wallet!" or, "Do you watch that show too?" and, "That anime is awesome!"

I just tell people I like anime and games, be it from they asking me what I like to do, or when everyone is saying what they're gonna do when they get off work. I just say, "I'm probably just gonna relax and watch anime"

It depends on how you go about being that way. I am quite literally at a confliction myself in regards to that. On one hand I want to be open and find it easier online but on cam or any kind of close up meeting well that will become much more difficult for me.

Dont go overboard or out of your way to drop hints or anything, but do something like a hoodie, or a keychain/lanyard, something small that people can notice without you actually having to say any anything. Thats what I do with my 5am"My little pony's spike" hoodie, and I get a lot of people come up to me, most of which are fellow bronies. Edit: put a picture of it as my display pic so you see what I mean, but you dont have to go THAT far with it. Lol

Just talk about it if you want to talk about it, it's nothing to be ahsamed of, everyone has interests :)

If someone asks me what I like I would have no problem getting into an argument, like those who say "Grow up you're watching a cartoon" (personally for me the most annoying thing in that scenario is that they just called it a cartoon, that's just who I am) Anyway, my point is never to have self doubt and always be yourself regardless of you're hobbies or interests and people will respect you more for it

Who gives a shittles? Really though, haha. Like what you like and never be ashamed of it. Who cares what others think.
