Science or Philosophy

drmario
Is there anyone who enjoys discussions on science or philosophy?
animecountryboy
I love talking philosophy and science, but psychology is my real passion.

Have you ever read anything from the Blackwell or Open Court pop culture philosophy series? The ones I've read have been simple stuff but still interesting (Legend of Zelda, Batman). There's a couple of books on anime & philosophy but I haven't read those.I think there's also a psychology series too. I'm really big on open-ended type questions like what's at the edge of the universe. Also ethics and things like that. And medical science. But I really like neuroscience, so psychology is pretty close and yet so different.

No i haven't read them. There is a connection between Neuroscience and psychology. They do work somewhat hand in hand. Here is my theory on the universe: it will expand for a long time then for some reason start retracting and crumple up. Then what you have is a "big bang" which starts the cycle over again.

Oscillating universe theory. It makes sense in a way but I prefer the multiverse theory combined with it. I think the universe is infinitely vast but beyond a certain point is nothing, because none of the galaxies have made it that far yet. Beyond a point it retracts. Along with that I think there are ∞ of these universes all with ∞ possibilities of physics, laws etc. Bangs happen when a universe becomes unstable and collapse onto each other, resetting the cycle. I like both science and philosophy discussions

I believe there are different realities each time a choice is made a new one splits. Like if you flip a coin and you heads a reality will diverge where you got tails.

It is widely believed that there is an end to the universe but that it is constantly expanding. If this is true then the question is where the universe is expanding to. Is there new "space" created or is there something outside of the universe? Masuji, your infinite possibilities sounds like quantum physics or the old DC comics multiverse. I've never been one in favor of different realities. There would need to be some kind of limitation because not every possible choice is a logical choice. For example, in no life would I go jump out my window right now.

I got one If everything was possible then the impossible would be possible

I'm less in favor of the realities/choice theory. I believe merely an ∞ set of rules and laws of the universe are set in each world. Some remain empty space, some may have magic, some may be like ours and some will be so alien we cannot even fathom.
