Why it's a good idea to vote intependent

arc
So I've watched parts of both of the national conventions. I was originally in the camp that thought both candidates were bad, but at least Trump wasn't a puppet of the big companies. However, I have since then lost all of my support for Trump. Every day he constantly undermines himself. Even Newt Gingrich, who was one of trumps top possibilities for VPs commented about Trump's baffling behavior. I've decided to vote independent, and here is why you should too if you don't like the candidates we have: 1. Trump is going to lose. Never before in history has a presidential candidate been so consistently behind in the polls. I think it's safe to say he has lost. That being said, a vote for Trump OR Hillary is going to be a wasted vote. 2. Even though there is no possibility of a third-party candidate winning, this election cycle presents the biggest opportunity there ever was for some evolution in our political system. If you feel like you are unhappy with what both parties are doing, you need to vote to show your disappointment. 3. If the independent candidate gets enough votes, a third party could be recognized as a possible legitimate option in the next election cycle. This could attract people who are not part of the corrupted political machine. 4.You are voting for the future possibility to have more choices 5. Wouldn't it be hilarious if the independent guy who nobody heard of ends up winning a state? In conclusion, I believe this election cycle is the best chance we will ever have of opening up the political arena to a third party, or at least inciting reformation in one or both parties. What do you think?

Good to see people are taking the hint overall both candidates are terrible and it was really a pick your poison kind of reality. I for one cannot vote for trump because despite what he could do for going against a system in reality he uses non political correctness for his own benefit. That and he is not a good model for it, far too many statements he has made that are dangerous in our standing with other countries. He also can easily be warped as with putins actions of complimenting him and then trump proceeding to see vladmir as a good fellow. Former CIA directors have see him as a threat to national security. But specifically for me its his stance on science moreso his running mate pence both are if anything regressive to the health industry and research. Statements such as saying cigarretes are not unhealthy and dont kill are just one example. However with that said hillary is equally bad in my viewpoint. Sure she has experience in politics but shes offering only more of the same and further control of things through corporations. That and she lies consistently to suit her own agenda not standing firm on a viewpoint if it doesnt net her supporters. Her stance on womans equality is one of those along with homosexuality over the years. Still if there was no choice for independency then I would choose her over trump. I made the decision to go independent though the moment I started seeing who were going to be the nominations. Its clear they wont be nominated like you said arc but its one of the only opportunities we have to really make a statement for choosing independents seeing as just how many people dont like the choices this year. I will respond to this more thoroughly later though overall I agree.

Sigh, I've lost all faith in the future of this country. It's game over guys.

*sigh* I just can't support any of the third party options. Honestly, of all the nominees running, my stances align more with Hillary Clinton than anyone else so far

I've only voted for a major party candidate once. In '08 for Obama because I hated Sarah Palin that much and wanted her nowhere near the white house. Otherwise I voted for Ralph Nader in '00 and '04 and voted for Gary Johnson in '12 and will again this time. The two party system is broken in this country, and until the greater American public wakes up and realizes there are candidates outside of the R's and D's on the ballot, nothing is really going to change in this country. If there's ever been a more Hepatitis A vs B election with the two major party candidates this year, it's this one.

I firmly believe that if you do not fully support either of the two candidates, you should still vote independent. Hillary is going to get elected. We all know that. Whether or not you agree or disagree with the 3rd party candidate simply voting for him will open the door for new possibilities in the future. He only needs a couple of percent more votes to have a spot in the debates.
