The human condition

seraph01
Hey guys. Wanted to start a thread to share philosphy and different ideas. So the other day i was just reflecting on why is it I can walk into a crowd or go to a party in be in the mist of people and still be lonely. I really think this is the human condition and that im not the only one who experiances this. I believe humans greats goal in there deepest depths of there soul is to love and be loved. Yet theres always this disconnected feeling that says nobody understands me. In some parts this is true to especially when we are judged for certain things people find odd or weird about one another, take anime for example as a hobbie that somebody might say is weird. Or another example is when people pass by a homeless person and usually not want to have anything to do with them, They refuse the empathize or understand. I believe the same reasons of this disconnect cause us to want to find a lover who understand us to. This is are subconsious drive day to day and motivates are activites more then we realize. Ironically though we often trade relationships for saftey. Theres been a trend in America lately. In the 70s the classic porches that were often built in front of the house facing the side walk started disapearing. These were often used to hang out with neighbors. Later backyard fences started to get higher so you dont even haft to see your neighbors. The american dream really became a idividualists dream carving out a nitch in society to not bother anyone nor help anyone. I also believe japan is are future . The hikikomori syndrome affects 700,000 individuals living in japan. They are youths who usually live with there parents, which i have no problem with, but the thing is they almost never leave there rooms. They live in fear of engaging the outside world and often will just let garbage pile up in there rooms do to never leaving. Welcome to the NHK is a good anime to watch to learn more about hikikomori. another terrible thing thats is happening is called Kodokushi, which means lonely death. In very high numbers now elderly in japan are dying all alone in apartments. Usually going on months or even years before being discovered in there apartments mummified. Also the birth rate in japan Is on such a major decline the government is trying figure out ways to get couples to hookup. haha ok that ones kinda funny but also sad. Anyways I have my own thoughts on why this is happening which is I believe because we trade relationships for safety. The interenet and 2d girls are safe but real relationships are not. This on a very subconsious level becomes a soul killer when we do this though because the the human soul will only thrive with risk and adventure. Think about it why do we love the movies and shows we like. Usually we see things like Lord of the rings or Sword art online and are inspired by the adventure those guys went on. Then we return to are mundane safe lives. ok back to the disconnectedness. I believe and is my hope that one day humanity will no longer face this disconnect from one another. That we will be able to feel connected to each other on a much deeper level. I believe this goal is the purose of life. haha anyways that was long. Your thoughts guys?

I am half a sleep, So the don't say I didn't warn anyone. I speak a lot of nonsense when I'm this tired. Though I can agree that most only want a significant other, This is not all true for most, Some want power, Some just want to hurt others as well, Truly these are rare individuals and with mental issues, But they are there. Many people don't go outside for just laziness, not safety, Though I can agree few do stay away because of shyness and or fear. I say it's a very beautiful purpose, But as long we are even a little bit like we are now, that will never happen, Let alone in the future. Humans by nature follow instinct, Instincts tell us to be selfish, Which in turn makes many become greedy. I agree people are becoming isolated, This is because people think 'why leave my comfy house and games, and food for something I may not even get'. This isolation will never change unless something major happens that changes our whole life style that we've come accustomed too. And that's not bringing the whole soul thing, Which I'm not certain if you were being literal or metaphorical with. Honestly this world is basically just a big game, You either try to help people and be a good person, To help yourself gain what you desire, be it love, family or whatever. Or you others who take what they want from others because it's easier. We are all on a time limit as well, Ticking down every second. Will there be a point in time where we can all understand each other, Probably not in this world, Would it be nice if we all could be selfless and help each other, Sure. I try to live that way everyday, I don't always succeed, But eh.

@leo_ss I think people often follow what they think what they want, power, Money, materialism. But I believe on a subconsious level there is a desire for Love. Leo your catholic right? What if jesus taught how to bring that subconsious desire for love out of a person. For instance with the radical muslim group Isis I believe jesus's reponse to there hateful persecution would be to love them and practice pacifism in response. That kinda radical Love has been proven to change humanities hearts over and over. martin luther king jr. and Gandi practice this art and showed what it can do. I believe live is a sorta game but not to see what you can get out of but instead what can you put into what you can share. First thing that needs to be healed for is that cynical nature of are thats calls for survival of the fittest. Again Im going to point towards your religion and teachings of Jesus. He prayed this after the last supper "May they all be one! Even as you, Father, are in me and I am in you, so let them be in us, so that all men may come to have faith that you sent me." I believe this is a heartfelt call for us to no longer think ourselfs as individuals but as a part of a whole. A arm dosnt say to its leg I dont need you. No the hand feeds the mouth which nurishes the whole body. And finally I must ask to consider what the says lords prayer. Are father who are thou in heaven. hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. thy will be done ON EARTH as it is in heaven. and also consider what picture revelations points to in the final act Is that heaven descends to earth. I dont believe we are suposed to abandon the earth and cynicaly give up and say nothing can be done.

Okay I'm not saying I myself disagreed with you. I'm saying most of the world does. Look I understand Christ's teaching enough to know the basics. But not everyone follows them and not everyone believes in his teachings either. You must put this into consideration. I know that Jesus would love them, He loves us all equally. But some people can't be changed so easily, You must understand, Where there is good there is evil. And many people who are evil will not change for the simple fact of they do not know they are evil in first place or they just don't care. Love has shown to change others, The masses specifically, and that is because most people are not evil. Survival of the fittest is there and always will be until most likely in imho judgement day, There are just not enough selfless people on that level for it to go away, When thousands are murdered in a day, That is when you know that you need strength and power, to protect those who can't defend themselves, Which then can only be done by stopping those who are killing them. The only way for MANKIND to do that most of the time is for aggressive behavior, This is because most people like them follow a man who says shoot first ask questions later. Certainly everyone has some good in them and you know what Jesus would be able to take it out of them, But until that day arrives just speaking kind words won't be enough, Kind words and a loaded gun will. We are all one yet different, I can agree with that, But when the arm starts trying to stab the heart, The other one cuts it off so the body may live. Do I want this to be the only option to protect others? No, never in a million years, Taking a life is awful even if it's an enemy, But it is sadly necessary in the world we live in at the moment. The second heaven is suppose to be earth, After jesus brings heaven to earth. But that's after judgement day. Until that day we are stuck in a world full of selfless people, Selfish people and probably the one that takes up the biggest percentage, the scared people. You have the selfless people who will give anything to help others, Who usually die for them. Then you have the selfish people, Who will do anything for themselves, including kill. Finally you have the scared people, who just want to left alone, To want to help but not be brave enough or are being ruled over in fear by the selfish. This world is harsh, it's violent and downright horrid at times. But it is also wonderful, kind and joyful at times. Sadly the world is one big mixed bag of these joys and horror and until some greater force changes that or we all die out, that will never change, Because there will always be these three types of people. Though that doesn't mean we should just let it be this way, We should fight it tooth and nail to the bitter end, But not everyone is going to choose that path, the world shows that itself as proof.

It is scientifically proven humans need each other to be healthy in the long run. We all need love and companionship or we go nuts. People will justify the most warped things to get them when they are starved so bad they cant take it even if subconsciously. Under the objective microscope, we are just animals after all and have many similarities to other animals in nature. Life in general seems to need a struggle to flourish be it nature or competition. Looking back in time it seems humans need struggle; if nature does not offer it they find ways to make it themselves, usually with each other because it's handy. One minute they will be killing each other, the next raising the bar of humanity with acts of kindness. This is why I often advocate for more space exploration. We need a 3rd party to struggle against as humanity instead of each other, nature has always been ready to challenge us. It gives a focus to improve and push ones limits in a more positive way. Exploration of the globe was a part of the age of discovery and helped bring on the Renaissance and bold new thinking in a surreal world they thought was doomed back in the dark ages. Once they figured out the world was not flat and mapped the globe and had nothing better to do.... Like the settler era's you had some crime & exploitation as there is always someone who thinks they can get away with something wrong and communication was poor. There was still a lot less of it because everyone was too busy staying alive in nature. The invention of farming and tool-making allowed humans to change from nomadic hunter-gathers to building civilizations. Our technology has freed up even more time now to either discover new things or get into epically destructive fights over them. Space is vast and more of everything out there than we can easily consume or imagine with our current capabilities. Most of it is out of reach at the moment and the realization of limited resources is at least getting some motivated to reach out harder before we kill each other over what little is left here. Space offers a lot of motivations to stay busy surviving instead of fighting. No one can do it alone out there, you have to work together to survive and participate in monumental efforts or you will die in very painful & costly ways quickly. This will require a shift in societal behavior that will be easier because fear for life & death is proven to be the ultimate motivator in the absence of love and compassion. I wonder how much more bloodshed and horror we have to watch while we wait before enlightenment or oblivion arrives.

I love the idea of space exploration. Awhile ago I was at a tedx and listened to a talk about it. Ive always sorta wondered want it would be like to be some of the first trail blazers in america, Being a pioneer and looking for new land. Now the whole earth is explored and we have satlites to see the whole earth. So really the only thing left to explore is to look to the stars. I used to play the game when i was a kid called escape velocity was a space exploration rpg game, sorta like eve online except 2d. anyways though we are lightyears away from any kind of deep space exploration. Plus theres the whole time relativity factor which the movie interstellar explained very well. Esentially great distances in space effect time. this means if you left the earth and headed towards the nearest solar system besides ours your loved ones could very likly of aged and passed on. So yeah there a many hurdles to overcome for any kind of deep space exploration.

I think the problem we have as a people presently is that we don't take the time to try and understand the other person's view. A breakdown or lack of communication contributes significantly to many disputes and hostility. Many people have the mindset that their opinion is the only one that matters and therefore become very closed-minded in the process. The hikikomori lifestyle may be a result of people with a different perspective on life being shunned by their peers, so it is easier to remain at home where others cannot judge or belittle them. On the other side of the coin, some hikikomori may look down on their peers for not thinking like them and choose to have an elitist attitude, therefore secluding themselves because they do not want to be corrupted by those they deem inferior.
