Is there something like true love?

xenogonreaper
In this world I think not , but I wish I could say that there really is such a thing as true love.

@OP: Depends on your definition of love. Your definition of love may not be the same as mine.

Maybe not everyone finds their true love, but yes, I find true love to be very real.

Love, what is it? Love is everywhere and yet nowhere. One can find love if that is what one wants. Romantic love is not the end all be all. If, for instance, I was not friends with my woman, but only loved her in a romantic sense, what would I truly have? I want to be in love with my best friend, but even so, I want to love any friend that I may have. Romance is...well...a romantic notion. Really, we are wired to breed and that's why for most, romantic love feels so great, but to love for loves sake, now that's where its at. Don't look for love, rather be love.

I like all of your comments!

Love is so vague a term that it almost doesn't mean anything, which makes a phrase like true love kinda hard to determine if it's real or not :/

Dont know if true love exists or not but I do know that you shouldnt be chasing after it. If it comes it comes. Just find a person you enjoy being with.

Let's split it, lets get greek up in hurr.... Eros, filao, and agape. Love of flesh, love of friend, and love unconditional. 1 a (1) : strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties <maternal love for a child> (2) : attraction based on sexual desire : affection and tenderness felt by lovers (3) : affection based on admiration, benevolence, or common interests <love for his old schoolmates> b : an assurance of affection <give her my love> 2 : warm attachment, enthusiasm, or devotion <love of the sea> 3 a : the object of attachment, devotion, or admiration <baseball was his first love> b (1) : a beloved person : darling — often used as a term of endearment (2) British —used as an informal term of address 4 a : unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another: as (1) : the fatherly concern of God for humankind (2) : brotherly concern for others Love exisis, but what is it? Giving of ones self, resources or time for the benefit of another. Is love selfish? As we know it, it is. It serves not only to benefit the loved, but the lover too. Whether it be feeling needed, or gaining resources through said love. And then theres unconditional love, this requires nothing, not even pleasure returned. Do we ever see that? That love, I highly doubt many have ever seen, even a mother's love is there because you bring her joy. In short, love is only as vague as the context in which it is used.
