At SDCC with FOX they did 3d printed action figures, handpainted, so I got to watch what they did.

Agreed on that. I personally didnt like soda stream that much since im not a soda drinker anymore really. Although current 3d printing still has away to go befor I feel its close to being able to replicate things on the same level as just building them. Still I plan on getting one just for the novelty later on.
